Labour of Love

Thanks for all the well wishes everyone!
Here’s the lovely story about giving birth to Rowan on Tuesday, March 15:
9:30am – Midwife checkup and I had my membranes scraped (sounds worse than it is…). Already 5cm dilated.
11:00am – Took the midwives cocktail*. (Bottoms up!)
1:00-2:00pm – Midwives cocktail kicks in (Bottoms down…)

Now, while in hindsight a labour that lasted less than an hour seems awesome, in reality it was just stupid.
I especially don’t recommend going into labour during ferry traffic.
Thanks to all the nurses that I yelled at during those special 9 minutes after we arrived and the ones that took care of me the 2 days I had to stay in the hospital to recover.
But this happy ending does have a tragic side. I was looking forward to this the most.
So can we all have a moment of silence:

*5 drops lemon verbena, 2 tbsp castor oil, 1 cup peach juice, almond butter on toast. Check with your professional before attempting. Whoo-damn.

YAY! An actual picture of little Ms!
I’m pleased that Golden Girls were the prequel to Rowan’s birth. Jack, and now his sister, have entered the world amongst some of the best, cattiest, female-driven tv ever.

Wowza! Great momic, but it sounds um… a bit intense!!! You definitely deserved some gas … Even after the fact! Do they not do that here, or was there just not enough time??? Congrats again!
(She’s gorgeous, btw).

You were in labour an HOUR?! You are a birthing MACHINE! What a great birth story. I feel very bad that you didn’t get the gas. Sniff. I’ll bet you were looking forward to that since you got pregnant!

The intensity is hilarious! I always see you so calm so it would have been something to see you so intense.
Congratulations Mom(squared)!

She’s beautiful… and I love the fact that you have the energy to illustrate it! You are an inspiration!

Awesome, congratulations to you, Kelly and Jack!!
For what it’s worth I can totally relate… Quinn came out like a cannon ball as well and it was really NOT fun. I agree. Short labour is just stupid! I thought I was going to die. Or be ripped in two. Or both.
Anyway! It’s over now, and you have a beautiful little girl! ♥ Happy snuggling

PS: Did they tell you to “stop pushing!!” too? What a load of bollucks.
