Random Wednesday Confession
Posted on | February 22, 2012 | No Comments
Every night we borrow my mother-in-law’s dog to “clean up” under the baby’s high chair.

She won’t touch avocado or peas though.

We lost power for a few hours this morning.
No big deal. They’re changing the power lines on our street so it was bound to happen. When we spend a day at home, we’re pretty good at entertaining ourselves anyway.
So ironically here’s what I got inspired to do while the power was out:
- put a load of laundry in the washing machine and turn it on
- pick out a dvd to watch since the TV “wasn’t working”
- put the baby down for a nap, including trying to heat her bottle and turn on the monitor
- surf the internet
- recharge my laptop because the battery was low
- recharge my dying phone while I was at it
- change the light bulb in the bathroom including trying to test it
- make eggs. (I stopped myself before I cracked any but then proceeded to start to…)
- make soup.
Wuh-wuh.
And that was just in the first hour. God I’m awesome. The only break in this display of stupidy-dumb was when I got frustrated and started dressing the kids to go somewhere only to realize that the car was in the shop.
Remember?
When I had taken the car to the shop two hours earlier?
WUH-WUH.
Who says routines are good for us? They just turn us into idiots.
Or maybe I was already there.
Anyway, here is what we wound up doing in the end.
Yeah. That’s right.
The kids hucked stuff down the stairs and I fell asleep while being the human baby gate.
I heard it’s what they did in the olden days.
You can bet my house was a-hummin’ when the power came back on.

Living in Reality
Posted on | February 14, 2012 | 2 Comments
I’ve mentioned this before, but lately I’ve been noticing a trend in how reality TV affects me. Or at least how it affects me while I’m watching it. (5 minutes after it’s been turned off I’m back to wandering around the house wondering what day it is and who put these screaming humans under the table. But I digress…)
Here’s the basic breakdown:
WEIGHT LOSS SHOWS
(such as Biggest Loser, X-Weighted etc.)

PARENTING SHOWS
SURVIVE IN THE WILDERNESS SHOWS

FASHION SHOWS

HOARDING SHOWS

So pretty much I’m spending my down time watching people heal, clean, create and challenge themselves in life.
I’ve decided that in order for me to become an active, happy member of society I need to watch a reality show showing slothy, lazy, cranky people doing ABSOLUTELY NOTHING.
So. Yeah.
Every vote helps put me in a position for other people to find this blog. Just click the link and it’s done. Thanks!

What to pack in your hospital bag
Posted on | February 3, 2012 | 1 Comment

Yay! The due date is near and it’s time to use your expensive luggage for the last time ever. What to pack, you ask? That is a good question. There are definitely some essentials that you’ll want to bring. And music, of course. And you’ll want to pack your bag before you go in to labour. And keep it in the car in case you have one of those speedy births that the prenatal classes say you won’t have. And love and support is always handy too. Essentials, preparedness, support. Yup. What would you do without my wisdom?
I would like to add three handy little things to that hospital bag list that always seem to be ignored Here they are. (Dads—take note. I made this list primarily for you.)
nail clippers

toilet paper

blind fold
And there you have it folks. Happy labouring!

The List
Posted on | February 1, 2012 | 3 Comments
Here is a guest post by designer and first-time mom to adorable daughter Kenzie!
There comes a time in every woman’s pregnancy when she thinks about what kind of mother she wants to be. I had plenty of time to ponder this and came up with many ideas of what I wanted to do, versus things I would NEVER do.
This all turned out to be quite the list in my head: *** Read More ***
